Client:

POL-MIEDŹ TRANS is a plant of the KGHM Group. It provides railway services on external railway lines of the PKP PLK S.A. network and operates railway sidings of the KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. Group. POL-MIEDŹ TRANS Sp. z o.o. provides services taking into account the provisions resulting from the regulations in force in rail transport and from the Safety Management System (SMS) in rail transport and the Maintenance Management System (MMS / ECM).

Offered solution:

The task was to replace the boiler room of the base in Głogów (existing two Viessman Vitoplex 300 boilers – 1.6MW each, with Giersh M3 burners powered by light fuel oil) burners with modulation ones along with the modernization of the automatic boiler room). The work was carried out in two stages. In the first stage in 2018, the non-functioning SAIA PLC SIEMENS S7-1200 controller was replaced along with the reconstruction of all control loops. The TP700 Comfort graphics panel was designed and installed as an HMI as an HMI.

As a complement to the whole, SCADA software was created on the basis of the PROMOTIC system. The visualization was prepared for remote connection in the master’s office.

The second stage (2019) consisted in replacing the worn-out Giersh M3 two-stage burners with Riello RL190 modulated burners. The replacement was carried out in a complete service: starting with the selection of burners, adjustment of the control and mechanical system, agreement on changes in automation in technical supervision, assembly and commissioning of the system.

The control system supports the automatic operation of boilers with the possibility of setting the output temperature automatically depending on the outside temperature (heating curve). Boilers can work independently as well as in cascade work. Automation supports automation of oil supply, circulation pumps, etc. The system records data from the operation of the boiler room, as well as informs and collects data on possible failures.
